At Duchy Chimney Sweeps & Stove Installations, I offer a range of services to help keep your stove and chimney safe, working efficiently and properly maintained.
I’ll make sure your new stove is installed safely and correctly, taking into account your property, chimney, and the appliance's requirements. I’m also happy to offer advice if you’re unsure about the type of stove or installation your home needs.
We register all stove installations with Building Control through HETAS. Once the installation is registered, you’ll receive a HETAS Certificate of Compliance for your records.
Not every property or stove installation is the same, so I can install both twin wall flue systems and flexible flue liners where required.
Twin wall systems can provide a suitable flue route where a traditional chimney isn’t available, while flexible flue liners can be installed within an existing chimney to provide a safe and suitable passage for the gases produced by your stove.
Regular chimney sweeping is an important part of looking after your stove, fire and chimney. Soot and other deposits can gradually build up inside the flue, which is why I recommend keeping up with regular sweeping.
Having your chimney professionally swept can help to:
Reduce the risk of chimney fires by removing soot and other deposits that have built up inside the flue.
Keep the flue clear by removing deposits and debris that could cause a blockage.
Help your stove or fire work efficiently by maintaining a clear route for smoke and combustion gases.
Identify potential problems so you can address any visible issues.
Keep up with regular maintenance as chimneys should generally be swept at least once a year, with more frequent sweeping sometimes needed depending on the fuel you burn and how often you use your stove or fire.
I carry out a thorough sweep and always leave your home clean and tidy when I’m finished.
I provide careful bird nest removal, making sure the nest and associated debris are properly cleared from the flue before checking that the chimney is clear. Nest removal must only be carried out when it is lawful and safe to do so, as active nests and nesting birds are protected by law.
A suitable chimney cowl can help protect the top of your chimney and keep unwanted visitors, rain, and debris from getting inside. I can supply and fit chimney cowls, making sure you choose the right type for your chimney and appliance. If you’re having problems with your existing cowl or you’re not sure what you need, just give me a call, and I’ll be happy to advise.
The flashing around your chimney helps create a watertight seal where the chimney meets the roof. When flashing becomes damaged, loose or worn, water can start to find its way into the property.
I offer chimney flashing fitting and repair services to help keep the area properly sealed and protected from the weather. If you’ve noticed signs of water getting in around your chimney, I can take a look and advise on what needs to be done.
